Competitions aren't won on technique alone.
Most competition coaching focuses on technique. But every artist competing at the international level already has technique. What separates a podium piece from a pass is the things technique alone doesn't teach: composition, harmony with the face beneath the work, photographic legibility, the visual hierarchy a judge's eye is trained to follow. Quelles compétitions juges-tu réellement ?
Principalement WULOP et des compétitions PMU à travers l'Europe. J'ai aussi siégé dans des jurys régionaux au Benelux et comme juge invitée lors d'expositions internationales. Les critères que j'enseigne viennent directement de ces jurys, pas d'une théorie de coaching.
Comment savoir si mon travail est prêt pour la compétition ?
Envoie trois photos de résultats cicatrisés avec ta candidature. Je te répondrai honnêtement. "Prêt" signifie généralement : une technique constante sous pression, une rétention cicatrisée que tu peux prévoir, et un portfolio qui montre de la variété, pas seulement une forme favorite.
Peux-tu revoir une pièce que j'ai déjà soumise à une compétition ?
Oui. Les analyses post-compétition font partie de chaque parcours Mentorat et peuvent aussi être réservées comme consultations indépendantes. Je te montrerai ce qui a probablement marqué des points, ce qui en a probablement perdu, et les ajustements de design que la plupart des juges voudraient voir.
Dois-je amener mon propre modèle pour la Masterclass ?
Non. Je trouve les modèles localement à Bruxelles et je les associe à la technique que nous travaillons. Si tu as un cas spécifique (par exemple une pièce de compétition sur quelqu'un de ton réseau), tu peux l'amener — mais ce n'est pas obligatoire.
Et si je me forme avec toi et que je ne suis pas classée ?
La plupart des artistes ont besoin de plus d'un cycle pour monter sur un podium international. La valeur de la formation n'est pas seulement le trophée — c'est de raccourcir une courbe d'apprentissage de plusieurs années à quelques mois. Les élèves qui ne se classent pas à leur première compétition se classent presque toujours à la deuxième.
Combien de temps avant une compétition dois-je réserver ?
Trois à quatre mois à l'avance, c'est idéal. Cela laisse le temps pour la masterclass, deux cycles de cicatrisation sur des pièces d'entraînement, et une répétition complète de ta soumission. Réserver à moins de six semaines fonctionne pour du perfectionnement, mais pas pour changer une technique.
